A Day of Firsts

It was a very exciting day for Jewel Racing with our first horse having his first start. There were plenty of owners on course to cheer him on, and he didn’t disappoint putting in a good first up run to place fourth.

His trainer Mark Kavanagh was also very happy with his efforts.

“He Is ran a great race first up, he put in a solid performance and was first of the unraced horses home, said Mark.

“His behaviour was impeccable, and he will take a lot out of today both on and off the track.”

Jockey Fred Kersley told the owners that he raced a little green today, but he is a really nice horse with plenty of upside.

“He began well and took up a nice spot behind the stable mate, the last 200m was his best, but it was just too hard to chase down the leader especially with the up hill climb here at Mornington, said Fred.

“He still has a lot to learn, but he certainly has fight in him and when the penny does drop, he will make a really nice racehorse.”

Of course, everyone was eager to know when he would be running again, but Mark was keen to see how he pulled up before locking in any plans.

“We will see how he pulls up and then make a decision about where to from here. He may have another race and then got to the paddock, or he may go straight to the paddock”, added Mark.

The son of Pierro was purchased from the Inglis Classic sale last year and syndicated through Jewel Racing. To find out more about Jewel Racing and other horses available click here.
